Thin factory paint needs careful correction
C8s arrive from Bowling Green with factory texture, fine scratches, and swirl marks, even on brand-new cars. Dark colors show every flaw under direct light. The clear coat is thin, so paint correction before PPF has to be careful, not aggressive. Skip the correction and the flaws get locked under the film.
Rock chips within the first 1,000 miles
The C8 sits low enough that GM added a factory front-lift system to clear speed bumps. At highway speed, the front end and lower side panels take hits fast. Owners report chips in the first few hundred miles. XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS on the full front and lower sides takes the damage instead of the paint.
Carbon fiber roof yellows in UV
The C8's carbon fiber roof panel has a thin factory clear coat that fails in Florida sun. Once it does, the carbon weave yellows permanently. No polishing fixes it. Replacement panels start around $2,600 for the part alone. PPF over the roof blocks the UV before the damage starts.
Stingray and widebody patterns differ
Stingray, Z06, E-Ray, ZR1, and ZR1X don't share body dimensions. Widebody cars have wider fenders, larger fender vents, and different rocker shapes. We use XPEL cut patterns matched to the exact variant. One pattern doesn't fit all C8s.

When should I put PPF on a new C8?
Before the first highway drive if possible. C8 owners see chips on the front end within the first few hundred miles.

Does a C8 need paint correction before PPF?
Usually yes. New C8s show texture, fine scratches, and swirl marks from the factory, especially on black and dark colors. Anything left in the paint gets locked under the film. The clear coat is thin, so we polish carefully and measure paint thickness before starting.

Can you tint the rear engine glass?
Yes. The glass over the engine bay runs hot, and cheap tint bubbles or peels there. We install XPEL PRIME XR PLUS ceramic tint on C8 engine-hatch glass. Some owners pick a clear version of the film to keep the engine visible while still blocking heat.
