Ferrari Protection
Ferrari's factory paint is thick but notoriously inconsistent from Maranello. New vehicles routinely arrive with sanding marks, dust nibs, and swirl marks that need correction before any film goes on. We handle the correction and the protection — so the finish under the PPF is actually worth preserving.
• Why Ferrari Needs Protection
Factory Paint That Needs Correction First
Ferrari's paint is thick — 150 to 200 microns — but the finish quality from Maranello is inconsistent. New cars regularly show sanding marks, dust nibs, and swirl marks from factory polishing. Applying PPF over these defects locks them in. Every Ferrari we work on gets a paint inspection and correction before film goes on.
Sculpted Panels and Complex Aero
The 296 GTB's one-piece rear quarters, the Purosangue's hood flowing into the fenders, the 812 Competizione's carbon aero fins — these shapes don't accept pre-cut film easily. Many panels need custom cutting and careful heat management, especially carbon fiber where temperature control matters.
Exhaust Heat on Rear Panels
The 296 GTB and SF90 are mid-engine designs. Exhaust heat on rear bumpers and diffusers stresses PPF adhesive and can yellow lower-quality films over time. We plan installations around the heat zones — edge placement and film selection near exhaust outlets make the difference.
Tri-Coat and Special-Order Colors
Ferrari's multi-stage paint systems — tri-coat metallics, special-effect pigments, custom Tailor Made colors — cannot be reliably matched by standard body shops. A single rock chip on a $30,000 custom color means a panel repaint that may never match the original. PPF keeps it from happening in the first place.

• Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my brand new Ferrari need paint correction?
+
Ferrari paint often arrives with sanding marks, dust nibs, swirl marks, and orange peel. If we put film over those flaws, we lock them in. We inspect the paint first, correct it, and then apply XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS.
Do I really need full body PPF or is front end enough?
+
At minimum, we recommend full front coverage: bumper, hood, fenders, mirrors, and headlights. On mid-engine models like the 296 GTB and SF90, we often extend coverage to the side intakes and rear bumper area because those spots see more debris and heat. Full-body XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS is the best choice if you want the most coverage.
Can you put PPF on carbon fiber parts?
+
Yes. The 812 Competizione, SF90, and Daytona SP3 all use carbon fiber parts. PPF helps protect those panels from chips and road wear. We use careful heat control during install so the carbon finish stays safe.
Is it safe to remove PPF later without damaging the paint?
+
Yes, if it is removed the right way. That means slow peeling with heat, not yanking it off. We use XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS, which is made for clean removal within its warranty period, and we remove it carefully to avoid damage.
What's the best tint for a mid-engine car in Florida?
+
XPEL PRIME XR PLUS ceramic tint on all side and rear glass. On mid-engine Ferraris, we also tint the glass behind the cabin to cut heat. The Purosangue's panoramic roof is another good area to tint. It helps keep the cabin cooler and adds strong UV protection, which matters in Florida sun.
Should I just get PPF through the dealer?
+
Ferrari does offer factory-approved film kits for some high-wear areas, but the coverage is limited. An independent XPEL Certified shop like ALSET Custom can do full-front, full-body, and custom coverage with XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS, and we can correct the paint before install. You also get the XPEL 10-year manufacturer warranty, and we can combine PPF, ceramic coating, and window tint in the same visit.
How much should I expect to pay for full body PPF?
+
Full front PPF on a 296, SF90, or Roma is $2,799. Full body gloss is $5,999, STEALTH matte is $6,499. On the Purosangue, full front is $3,299 and full body is $6,999. Ceramic coating is $2,200 for any model. For context, a single panel repaint on a special Ferrari finish can run $3,000–$5,000, and the color match may not be perfect. Book PPF with ceramic and save 10%.
